Born in Colombia during the turbulent Cartel wars of the 1980s, cooking has been the main ingredient in Ronaldo's journey from young immigrant to rebellious teen, U.S. Marine, and to successful Chef and media personality. Ronaldo's focus has shifted to helping his community in the fight against diabetes by creating recipes using modern techniques with ancestral flavors. Chef Ronaldo Linares is the author of Sabores de Cuba: Diabetes Friendly Traditional and Nueva Cubano Cuisine and America's leading expert on healthy Latino cooking. Ronaldo describes his cooking and approach to life as Latino inspired and passion infused.
Ronaldo has showcased his culinary style on Food Network's Chopped, BBC America's cross-country chef competition "Chef Race," WNBC, Fox News, Telemundo, Univision, Hispanic Kitchen, and many other media channels. He is a popular featured chef at live events including the Food Network's "Food & Wine Festival," the International Restaurant and Food Service Show, the American Diabetes Association Expo held at the Javits Center. When not in the kitchen, Ronaldo is active in CrossFit as a Level 1 certified trainer and in the community speaking to students, youth groups and corporations about his life journey. Most important, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife, children, and growing his private chef business.
